My name is Katherine I am a Licensed Professional Counselor, Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor, widow, cancer survivor, and Christian. I approach therapy with respect for individual differences, using the best therapy for the concern and give support to all clients. I help individuals discover their strengths and challenges, giving them time to process their concerns and tools or coping skills to help them find their way through life's challenges.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

During the first session I ask what brought you to counseling at this time. I give you a safe place to express your concerns. I teach several relaxation skills and talk with you about what you would like to realize from therapy. We make a plan to achieve your goal.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

Strengths include a positive connection with people with acceptance, compassion and respect for everyone. I include biblical strengths if you choose that. Another strength is an ability to explain different coping skills and explain how our brains respond to trauma, anxiety, fear, depression, and overwhelm.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

I believe we all are created amazing and Life has a way of throwing us curves that make it hard to realize and love ourselves. I help people find their way through the overwhelm that can occur, anxiety, depression, grief, and dealing with changes. I help adults with ADHD learn to organize and manage their symptoms to accomplish their goals. I do grief counseling, help individuals grow their confidence, and process traumas that cause anxiety.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I use CBT by helping clients see how their thoughts affect feelings and actions, helping clients learn to look for the evidence when having automatic negative thoughts and reframing to more positive thoughts, feelings, and actions.

Christian Counseling

Explaining Grace, God's love and forgiveness, helps people understand they are precious no matter what life might have shown them and they can heal from hurts.

Couples Counseling

I help couples develop positive communications and support and increased intimacy in their relationship.

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

Basically I help individuals to learn their circle of control, learn to reframe their situation and accept those things that con not be changed by them. I help them see how they can positively improve the situation and commit to doing those things.
