Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

In our first session we will take time to find a rhythm while I gather some information to help me understand your current need for therapy. I gain a general understanding of your issues and help explore goals that you would like to achieve in the therapy process. The first session is nerve wracking for some and I will make sure to focus on your being comfortable and feeling safe while sharing the personal details of your life.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I have a strong ability to help clients feel comfortable, understood, and less alone in their struggles. I tailor therapy to meet each client’s unique needs and approach my work with care and intention. I am a passionate advocate and ally for equality and fairness across all religions, cultures, gender identities, and sexual orientations.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I am passionate about working with women and men who have been affected by toxic relationships or challenging family-of-origin dynamics. I help clients understand how these experiences have shaped them and continue to impact their lives today. I also enjoy working with couples to strengthen communication, deepen understanding of one another’s needs, and foster greater connection and compassion within the relationship.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

The way we think truly affects our behaviors and overall outlook. By exploring our thought patterns and the origins of these thoughts, we help to begin the process of changing those negative thoughts into healthier ones.

Couples Counseling

As individuals, you often bring emotional baggage and negative thought patterns into a new relationship, as you base your beliefs on your past history. By examining the why to your thoughts we can help you as a couple develop healthier behaviors, communications and marital outlook. Each couple is unique as well as each individuals. It is important to recognize the journey that got you to the place you are in life right now in order to change behaviors that may be negatively impacting the relationship into actions that have positive effects on the relationship.

Strength-Based

In my practice, I utilize a strength-based therapy approach that focuses on identifying, honoring, and building upon each client’s existing abilities, resilience, and lived wisdom. Rather than centering therapy solely on problems or deficits, I help clients recognize the strengths they have developed through their life experiences, including those shaped by adversity, trauma, or hardship. I believe every individual possesses internal resources, values, and coping skills that can support healing and growth, and my role is to help bring those qualities into clearer awareness while validating the challenges they have faced.

Attachment-based

In my practice, I utilize an attachment-based therapy approach that focuses on understanding how early relationships and relational experiences shape emotional patterns, beliefs, and behaviors throughout life. I help clients explore how their attachment history influences the way they connect with others, manage emotions, respond to stress, and navigate intimacy. By increasing awareness of these patterns, clients gain insight into why certain relationships feel challenging or triggering and how past experiences may be influencing present-day interactions.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

In my practice, I utilize a mindfulness-based therapy approach that emphasizes present-moment awareness, self-compassion, and intentional responding rather than automatic reacting. I help clients develop the ability to observe their thoughts, emotions, and physical sensations with curiosity and nonjudgment, allowing them to better understand their internal experiences without becoming overwhelmed by them. By increasing awareness of the mind–body connection, clients learn to recognize patterns that contribute to stress, anxiety, emotional reactivity, or avoidance.
