Hello and welcome! I specialize in serving individuals and couples over the age of 18 both working toward and living in recovery from a variety of life events, which may include addiction for the individual/partner/or client's child, socioemotional intelligence as an only child, grief/loss, justice-involved and/or incarceration, changes in confidence or creativity, Highly Sensitive People (HSPs), relationship phases and shifts, or workplace stressors.
I strongly believe that the client is the expert on themselves--no one knows you better than you! Thus, our first session will include you teaching me about where you've been and what you've been through as we begin to connect certain pieces together to eventually form a map of patterns and core beliefs. We'll end that first session with some preliminary areas of focus--some that you may have already known, and possibly a few surprises as well.
I offer a true judgment-free zone, an hour dedicated to exploring who you are at your own pace. There's lots of compassion, inquisitiveness, and humor that go along with that process. That moment when we have empathy for ourselves and perhaps even those around us so that the way we see the world shifts is such an incredible experience that everyone deserves to have. I'm in this line of work because of this belief, and that of second chances, so that we feel prepared to create the world we want despite of what our world has been.
I am experienced in working with adult clients living with addiction, mood disorders, co-occurring concerns, justice-involvement, or inter/intrapersonal relationship conflicts, and helping them return to or restart their place in their community. We'll look at these experiences through the lenses of mind, body, and spirit. This is purposefully a broad brushstroke as the concern that may bring you into therapy often extends itself into other domains as we explore a lifetime of patterns, beliefs, and values.
ACT is a comprehensive foundation on which we get to build your recovery framework, no matter the 'why' you're in recovery. We will better understand your beliefs and values, and how they work with your current actions to gradually build insight and motivation into you being in control of your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, and how to relate more genuinely and healthfully to those in your life because of this! Several other approaches will be included upon this framework, such as Attachment-based Therapy, CBT, Experiential Therapy, Relational/Family Systems, and Solution-focused or Strengths work. Self-efficacy is our goal!
