Hi! I'm one of those people who has always been interested in mental health and it's impact on the life the of the individual, their family, community, and society at large. I have collaborated with clients to improve their mental health and well-being in many different settings. My experience comes from working at a hospital Emergency Department, a community organization, and a mental health agency serving individuals with developmental and/or intellectual disabilities, mental illness, and homelessness. Additionally, I have conducted individual and group therapy in a clinical setting. I have learned in my counseling experience that successful results require collaboration, commitment, and intentionality by both parties, the client and counselor. The client, as the expert of their life takes an active role in the treatment process and we work together for their best outcome by participating in treatment goal setting and keeping the change process alive by completing homework assignments, as needed, between counseling sessions. My hope is that an honest, trusting, and respectful relationship is built as the client realizes their best outcomes.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session, we will get to know one another through a brief introduction and learn about your strengths, resources, and your desired outcome and future hopes. This will help us develop a plan for follow-up sessions.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

Having worked with a diverse population I've learned to a communicate with compassion, accepting my client's ability and respecting my client's autonomy in the therapeutic alliance which leads to my client's progress.

My treatment methods

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) has allowed clients to acknowledge their expertise in their own lives which leads to increased self-confidence and self-efficacy. I work with clients as they focus on identifying and amplifying their strengths and resources to help them achieve their best outcomes.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Our well-being is determined by how we think. A well-balanced life is all about positive and hopeful cognition. Our thoughts tell us and others who we are because our thinking is ultimately reflected in our emotions and behavior. I work with clients to change maladaptive beliefs and negative cognition to live a more positive and hopeful lifestyle.
