Dr. Magdalene Coleman, DNP, FNP-C & PMHNP-BC, is licensed in New York, Nevada, Oregon, and Arizona. I received my master's degree from Lehman College, a doctorate degree from Wilmington University, and a post-doctorate certification from Wilkes University. She has over 15 years of healthcare experience. She offers psychiatric evaluation to all ages from 14 years via telemedicine. Her specialty includes psychiatric assessment for ADHD, anxiety, depression, PTSD, and insomnia, as well as medication management and supportive psychotherapy.
In our first session, we'll focus on getting to know each other, discussing your reasons for seeking therapy, and establishing a comfortable and collaborative relationship. I'll explain my approach, answer any questions you have in mind, and we'll work together to identify your goals and develop a plan of care moving forward. Usually the initial session is about building a foundation for our work today and setting the stage for your growth and progress.
I take a holistic approach to managing my patients. I consider each patient's life in physical, emotional, and social aspects to develop a comprehensive treatment plan. By making sure the patient’s mental health needs are met. The first interaction is about getting to know the clients so we can establish a rapport, and then we will talk about the patient’s symptoms. These strengths can help build trust, improve patient outcomes, and enhance the overall quality of care.
I am well-equipped to support individuals dealing with mental health issues such as ADHD/ADD, depression, anxiety, PTSD, insomnia, medication management, and life transitions who value a collaborative and empathetic therapeutic relationship and are motivated to explore their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors to achieve personal growth and positive change.
I integrate biblical principles and values into our sessions as a Christian counselor. To get the most out of our time together, I encourage you to share your thoughts, feelings and struggles openly and honestly, pray with me or reflect on scripture together if that's comfortable for you, and explore how your faith intersects with your challenges and concerns. My goal is to provide a safe, supportive, and spiritually nurturing environment for you to grow and heal.
I use CBT to help clients identify and challenge negative thought patterns, reframe distorted thinking, and develop more adaptive coping strategies.
I used mindfulness therapy to help individuals develop awareness of the present moment, reducing stress and anxiety by focusing on thoughts, emotions, and bodily sensations without judgment. It cultivates calm, clarity, and self-acceptance.
