Hi! My name is Heather and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I have been licensed for nearly 8 years in California but have worked in the mental health field for about 25 years. My work over the last 16 years has been in a community based clinic serving people with serious mental illness with a high level of distress in their lives. I have also worked in crisis and a crisis stabilization unit serving individuals in crisis.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session we will talk about what has worked for you in the past in therapy and what hasn't, what you like in a therapist and what you don't and what goals you have for therapy. We will get to know each other enough to start thinking about if we are a good fit for each other in a therapeutic relationship. It is important to me that you have enough information from me to make an informed decision if i am the therapist for you in this moment.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

After 16 years of experience working with adults with very complex needs and mental health concerns, as well as working with people with very serious, intense traumatic histories supports me in being able to work with anyone in any situation without judgment or prejudice. My presence is calm, warm, welcoming and kind. I utilize many different therapeutic modalities but believe that the relationship between us is the most important factor in if therapy will be beneficial or not. I will not tell you what to do, but will guide you through your own thoughts and feelings so that you can start to find solution, clarity and peace in your life.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

I am best positioned to serve adults individually, but also am very skilled at family therapy and couples therapy. I love working with people with personality disorders or those in relationships with people with personality disorders, people with bipolar disorder, people with psychotic disorders like schizophrenia or schizoaffective disorder, people with chronic or situational depression, people with anxiety disorder, and people who have experienced trauma and may or may not have PTSD or CPTSD.
