There's a reason they say "It takes a village to raise a child." Parenting has lots of ups & downs and moments of uncertainty. Needless to say, it can get overwhelming. But there's no need to navigate these challenging times alone. I proudly serve parents & children who are struggling with big emotions & behaviors, developmental transitions, or child/adult mental health issues. I strive to create a therapeutic atmosphere where each child feels seen & heard. Through child-centered therapy, I can begin to communicate with your child and help guide them as s/he/they make sense of their feelings and behaviors. But parents & caregivers need support, too! Parent sessions are a time to focus on you & your experiences without judgment (and without kiddos). These sessions are flexible and can be a place for you to decompress, to ask Qs or explore parenting styles & strategies. I'm happy to meet in person or virtually.
The first session is a time for you and I to meet individually to get to know each other further and discuss the challenges that you and your child are facing. I can then explain how I may be of help to your family, give you more details about what to expect from counseling, and schedule a follow up appointment with you and/or child.
I pull from a wide variety of treatment methods, such as cognitive behavioral therapy, client centered therapy, and play therapy, to create a treatment that is specifically tailored to your family's needs and strengths. You can also expect me to incorporate tools from Trust Based Relational Intervention (aka TBRI) and mindfulness practices.
I have a strength-based and client-centered perspective that allows me to listen and understand others.
