My name is Marisa and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I believe that you deserve a compassionate therapist, someone you can connect with and feel safe, supported, and understood as you move through the healing process. I love helping others discover and feel comfortable and accepting of their true selves without judgment. Utilizing an integrated and collaborative approach to therapy puts your role as the expert of your own life and my role as a guide to highlight your strengths and provide support. My goal is to empower you by helping you develop tools, skills, and strategies to achieve your goals.
After our first session, you can expect to make steps towards your goals by learning through skills, tools, and/or awareness. My hope is you have a take away from each session to practice or think about in order to dive deeper and step closer to your goals.
I utilize tools from many tool boxes to assist with your own personal needs and goals; mindfulness, interpersonal effectiveness, emotion regulation, cognitive triangle, and strength building are a few of those tools. The main treatment methods used are CBT, DBT, Solution Focused and Gestalt.
Encouraging and reinforcing positive self-talk and experiences, teaching problem-solving strategies to support independence, and increasing self-esteem are my biggest strengths and are effective in combating depression, anxiety, mood disorders, and personality disorders.
