Hello I am a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) licensed in both Indiana and Arizona. I am also certified as a life coach which tends to focus more on personal development and business and personal goals, more so than just mental health. I have extensive training in play therapy and expressive techniques with children of all ages. At this time I prefer to work with adults as specified above, but can utilize all of these experiences as they apply. I especially enjoy working in areas of cultural diversity and assisting those who feel marginalized/oppressed by society while finding their place in the world.
What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?
Our first session is intended to be an introductory session where we can get to know each other and share your concerns that brought us together. Sharing with me any changes that you would like to see occur and helping me to understand your current support systems or obstacles will then help us work together to define manageable goals that can help you move forward
Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.
Having been in this field for so many years has given me extensive experience in almost every main area of the mental health field. This means that I have had much experience with diverse populations and cultures. I am also naturally drawn to wanting people to feel authentically seen and accepted for who they are and where they are on their path. I build quick rapport with almost anyone who gives me a chance, and I find accepting diversity combined with supportive compassion and empathy to be easy. I find great joy in seeing other people be happy and stay committed to helping them get there, as long as clients are doing their part as well.
Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.
I love working with those who are ready to let go of limiting beliefs, and identify what matters most to them and helping them get there. I am best suited for those who are committed to that process and open to feedback and guidance where needed; those who tend to be self reflective, open to their creativity and just need the extra support of someone willing to help them believe in their own potential. Much of the mental health challenges that are encountered in counseling come from lack of insight and awareness into their strengths and the value they can bring into their relationships and their own little corner of the world. I love helping people to find that within themselves and embrace it.
