Hello, I'm Ricardo Moran, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker based out of California. I received my Masters from California State University, Northridge and have been practicing for five years. My passion is to support individuals and families to prevent and cope with problems in their everyday lives. My therapeutic approach is completely client-centered. I enjoy working collaboratively with the client to develop treatment goals motivated by their individual needs and want to achieve.
Clients should expect a safe space for them to feel comfortable processing their thoughts and feelings. Additionally, someone who possesses strong relationship-building skills to process the client's emotional challenges with respect and professionalism.
As your provider, I will provide a non-judgmental space with empathy and unconditional positive regard for you to process your thoughts, feelings, and emotions. Furthermore a compassionate communicator and empathetic listener. In our sessions, I will help explore the root of the challenges and collaborate with you to develop an personalized treatment plan.
I love working with young adolescents and adult patients who have depression and anxiety. I understand how these diagnoses can impair someone's overall functioning so it's important to me to support them with managing their symptoms.
My experience with trauma informed care started when I began working with children, adolescents and families in the child welfare system several years ago. I implement this method by understanding that trauma impacts our physical, psychological and social development. Additionally, implementing the principles of trauma informed care which include; safety, trustworthiness, choice, collaboration and empowerment.
My experience with cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) started in grad school over five years ago. I plan to use it in my practice by helping people change their intrusive thoughts and behaviors to manage their daily stressors. I also plan to use CBT by teaching peoople how to replace/challenge their negative thoughts with more realistic ones. I like to use CBT with people with anxiety, depression and PTSD.
My experience with motivational interviewing also started in grad school. I enjoy this treatment approach because it can help people find the motivation to change their behavior. I plan to use this approach by incorporating the four principles of motivational interviewing which include; resist, understand, listen and empower.
