Hello All! Welcome!, my name is Destiny and I am a licensed professional counselor, certified trauma professional, and EMDR-Trained therapist practicing in the state of Georgia for four years. However, I have been in the mental health field as a student, paraprofessional, advocate, and blogger for 6 years. Over the years I have worked with many diverse individuals and groups in inpatient, private practice, residential, and corrections. I specialize in trauma-informed care, mood disorders, and women's issues, however, I also work with many other diverse issues and populations which has given me the ability to advance my knowledge with people of different cultures, gender, sexuality, and race. My life motto and priority is "Everyone is deserving of a safe space to heal and cope in the present moment." With that, I welcome ALL to join me in a space where you don't have to worry about judgment, and as your therapist, I am here to actively learn your story and guide you on your journey toward peace.
Clients can expect to go over present issues, and questions about their background and what they would like to start on. Clients can rest assure I offer a safe space for them to open up as little or as much as they want as I know how daunting first sessions can be for the first time. As we move forward in sessions the goal is for you to feel comfortable to share whatever issues or troubles you have without judgement.
In therapy, I prefer to utilize integrative methods of interventions due to each client's diverse individual needs. However, I often use various methods of TF-CBT, CBT, DBT, crisis intervention, solution-focused, Multiculural, Mindfulness, person-centered, and EMDR treatment approaches.
I believe my biggest strength is working with trauma and crisis clients. As a woman of color, I understand the vulnerabilities of exposure and the likelihood of exposure to violent and traumatic events to historically marginalized groups, how it can impede your daily living, and how we often navigate the world.
