Thanks for visiting my profile. I’m originally from Philadelphia and now based in Baltimore. I am licensed in both Maryland and Texas (where I previously lived and went to graduate school). I have worked in the social services field for over 15 years and have been a licensed social worker and practicing therapist for 5 years. Most of my experience has consisted of working with survivors of violence (family, intimate partner, and/or sexual violence) as well as with Spanish-speaking immigrants. I enjoy working with caregivers and their children and with mixed status immigrant families. Although I am not Hispanic/Latine, I lived in Peru for about 5 years and speak Spanish fluently, so I am comfortable providing therapy in Spanish. At this time, I specialize in supporting adolescents and young adults who are healing from trauma, managing anxiety, or undergoing life changes. As a community organizer myself, I also enjoy supporting fellow organizers who are experiencing burnout. I typically provide tele-therapy to individuals ages 12+. If you are interested in sessions for a younger child and/or family work, please reach out to discuss this option further. Additionally, I provide psychological evaluations in English and Spanish for immigrant clients who are looking to support their legal cases (asylum, U-Visa, VAWA, and extreme hardship waivers). Because these are completely separate from therapy sessions, please schedule a consultation call only or contact me at the website link below so that we can review this option.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session, I will ask questions to learn more about you and the reasons you are seeking therapy. I aim to understand your symptoms and biggest concerns so that we can prioritize what to address. I review some guidelines and expectations related to therapy and how I work with clients. I also leave time to answer any questions you may have. When working with children or adolescents, I may ask the caregiver to be present for all or part of some sessions.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I am skilled at helping to create a safe environment for clients, particularly for those who have experienced relational trauma. Because I have worked with many survivors of interpersonal violence, one of my strengths is giving clients a glimpse into what a safe relationship can feel like. Another one of my skills is strengthening connections between caregivers and children. I have worked with parents and grandparents to build a deeper understanding of their children's behavior and to learn how to support them, especially for children healing from trauma, significant loss, or other life changes. Because I have worked in various locations and settings, one of my strengths is my adaptability and open-mindedness. Clients with identities different from my own have expressed that they felt seen and heard by me. Working with immigrant clients has led me to deepen my sense of humility, transparency, and curiosity so that clients can feel more comfortable working with me and also navigating relationships with other providers.

My treatment methods

Relational

I focus on building a warm and welcoming environment for clients. I aim to be transparent with my approach and collaborative with goals.

Trauma Informed Care

The vast majority of my work has centered on working with people who have experienced trauma. I provide psychoeducation on trauma and the brain, and I utilize trauma-informed techniques, such as EMDR when appropriate, to address various kinds of traumatic experiences.

Mind-body approach

I often ask clients to reflect on the physical sensations that are present in the body when discussing topics that are activating. I draw from trauma-informed practices, such as EMDR, and I incorporate information about the stress response cycle into my work.

Multicultural

A significant part of my work has involved working with clients from various backgrounds and cultures, such as immigrants and mixed status families. I speak Spanish fluently and am able to conduct therapy in Spanish. I am also very open-minded and appreciate working with people from different faith backgrounds, gender identities, ethnicities, and sexual orientations.

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

I apply solution-focused techniques to help with goal-setting. I typically work with clients for a short- to medium-term duration.
