Hello! I am a licensed clinical social worker based in Illinois. I received my Masters from University of Illinois at Champaign Urbana and have been practicing for over 11 years. My client-centered approach focuses on meeting you where you are and providing support with warmth, empathy, and genuineness. Whether you need help processing emotions, setting boundaries, or reducing negative self-talk, my tailored approach can help. Clients often feel like they're talking to a trusted friend during their appointments.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

Our first official visit together counts as our assessment. This just means it is your day to come in and talk about what's been going on recently and what has brought you in today. You can start wherever you like and never have to worry that you are doing it wrong. I normally just listen to people talk and take notes. If you get to the end of what you have to say and I still have questions, I will ask you the questions. After that, we can talk about what you would like to do as far as next appointments.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

Whether you're dealing with stress, facing a difficult transition, or simply need someone to talk to, I'm here to provide consistent support and reassurance. I will support you step by step to ensure you do not have to face your challenges alone. I can help you look at your situation in a new way and explore the options you have. We will take into account who you are as a whole person and focus on what you can do next to experience some relief. - What was your path to becoming a [practitioner type based on license]? I graduated with a Master’s degree from the University of Illinois and then worked for two years under clinical supervision before becoming licensed by the state to practice independently. - What should someone know about working with you? Your visits will likely feel like talking to a trusted friend (If that friend had extensive mental health knowledge, was legally and ethically bound to keep your information confidential, and did not ever need to discuss their own problems.) - How do your own core values shape your approach to care? I believe in supporting you exactly where you are. It doesn’t matter to me where you are starting from; any place is ok. I believe we should work toward the goals you have for yourself, whatever they are, and not my goals for you.

My treatment methods

Strength-Based

As a licensed therapist, I use Strength-Based Therapy to help clients manage mental health conditions by focusing on their inherent strengths and resources. In initial sessions, we identify past successes and supportive relationships, setting SMART goals. Clients build on their strengths through positive reframing and engaging in strength-utilizing activities. Skills like goal-setting, problem-solving, and self-advocacy are taught. Progress is regularly reviewed and adjusted, with a focus on maintaining gains and leveraging strengths for future challenges. This approach fosters resilience and long-term positive change, improving clients' mood, self-esteem, and overall quality of life.

Supportive

As a therapist, I utilize supportive therapy to create a compassionate and encouraging space for my clients. My goal is to offer a non-judgmental environment where you can freely express your thoughts and emotions. I'm here to actively listen and validate your experiences, helping you build on your strengths to manage stress and navigate life's challenges. Together, we will work on developing healthier coping strategies that empower you to face personal and interpersonal issues with greater confidence. Whether you are going through a difficult time or simply need consistent support, I'm here to provide the stability and reassurance you need to move forward.

Person-centered (Rogerian)

In my practice, I embrace a person centered approach, believing that you are the expert on your own life. My role is to provide a safe, empathetic, and non-judgmental space where you can explore your thoughts and feelings at your own pace. I'm here to support your journey of self-discovery, helping you tap into your inner resources and potential. By fostering an environment of unconditional positive regard, I encourage you to trust in your own ability to make meaningful changes. Together, we will work on enhancing your self-awareness, self-acceptance, and personal growth, allowing you to navigate life's challenges with greater confidence and authenticity.
