I am a dedicated neurodiverse-affirming therapist with a rich background and a passion for supporting individuals of all cognitive styles. As the daughter of immigrants, I bring a unique perspective to my practice, having spent over two decades navigating the diverse cultural landscape of the United States. Originally from New York City, I spent most of my life in a vibrant, fast-paced environment, honing my skills with a diverse range of clients. In 2018, I relocated to Arizona for a change of pace and to continue my therapeutic journey.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

Our first meeting is focused on understanding the big picture and what brings you to therapy. During this session, I’ll introduce my practice, set expectations, and obtain your consent for treatment before we explore your reasons for seeking therapy. We’ll discuss your concerns, coping strategies, family history, and physical health to provide context for our work together. We’ll also identify treatment goals to guide our sessions and ensure meaningful progress. I may ask clarifying questions to deepen my understanding and offer summaries to confirm we’re on the same page. Our sessions will be conversational, but I may share resources like articles or worksheets to support your growth. At the end of each session, I’ll provide an action step or reflective exercise to help you apply what we’ve discussed to your daily life, promoting continued progress between meetings. My goal is to create a supportive, non-judgmental environment throughout our work together.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

As a neurodiverse-affirming clinician, I bring empathy, cultural sensitivity, and personal experience to create a safe, non-judgmental space for clients. Growing up in an immigrant family and transitioning from academia to clinical practice gives me a unique perspective that blends theory with practical application. My adaptability allows me to tailor therapy to each client's needs, while my curiosity drives me to understand their experiences deeply. Personal experience with neurodiversity, particularly through my autistic cousin, enriches my support for neurodiverse clients. I'm passionate about empowering clients and building strong, collaborative relationships using evidence-based practices like CBT, ACT, and parts-work.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

In my role as a cognitive behavioral therapist, I serve as a mirror for those I support, helping clients explore the connections between their thoughts, feelings, behaviors, and choices. Together, we identify which aspects of this triad need recalibration to achieve desired life outcomes. In sessions, this involves identifying, exploring, and adjusting patterns of thoughts and behaviors.

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

In my therapeutic practice, I use Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to help clients achieve psychological flexibility and lead meaningful lives. ACT combines acceptance and mindfulness strategies with commitment and behavior-change techniques. I guide clients to accept their thoughts and feelings without judgment, use cognitive defusion to reduce the impact of negative thoughts, and practice mindfulness to stay present. By helping clients see themselves as separate from their experiences, clarify their core values, and commit to value-based actions, we work together to set and achieve meaningful goals, fostering a rich and fulfilling life despite the presence of inevitable challenges.

Internal Family Systems (IFS)

In my therapeutic practice, I utilize Internal Family Systems (IFS) to help clients understand and heal their internal landscape. IFS is based on the idea that our mind is made up of different parts, each with its own perspectives, feelings, and roles. By recognizing and engaging with these parts, clients can address internal conflicts and foster self-compassion. We work together to identify and understand these distinct parts, uncover their origins, and facilitate dialogue between them. This process allows clients to access their core Self, a state of inner wisdom and calm, enabling them to lead more harmonious and balanced lives.
