Hi I’m Penny, Thanks for taking the time to consider letting me work with you. I know it is hard to open up and allow someone into your life and thoughts. Let me tell you a little about myself and my reason for being a therapist before you make a decision. Growing up I was always the friend who everyone turned to for advice, help to make a big decision, or the rational mind, but also for the tough response. So, I guess this is something I’ve always enjoyed, helping others. You want to know if I know what I am doing and have some backing, right? I graduated from University of Phoenix, Sacramento Campus with my Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy in 2015, however, I started gaining experience doing therapy in 2014. I have since worked in a non-profit private practice model individual therapy center, a dual diagnosis inpatient drug rehab, and a non-profit community-based therapy center working with children and families. I also have experience working in a psychiatric hospital outpatient setting where I have opened/ran groups at a PHP outpatient a new mental health hospital.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session we will do introductions and I will gather important information. We get to know each other. I like to ensure my clients are comfortable and feel safe talking about their life me.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

Areas of focus/population that I enjoy working with and usually end up in my sessions are; Anxiety, Stress, Self-Esteem, Coping Skills, Depression, Teens, ADHD, Family Conflicts, and Dual Diagnose. I believe affirmations, thought stopping, and challenging distortions are an important part of healing. I also believe that acceptance and meeting yourself where you are is just as important. You are the expert in your own life, I am just here to help you regain your strength, relearn your tools, and remember you are in charge.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

I prefer to work with 13- to 55-year-olds, individual, one-to one therapy sessions.
