Hello there! I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) based in Virginia. I attended undergrad and graduate school at Radford University, located in Radford, Virginia! I work full-time for the VA Healthcare System where I provide mental health counseling and group services to our Veterans. I strive to assist each of my clients to the best of my ability and offer my expertise surrounding numerous mental health disorder and life struggles. I hope to work closely with you as a provider that is open, accepting, and willing to work through the struggles that life can throw our way. I specialize in depression, anxiety, mood disorders, thought disorders, grief/loss, and trauma. I know that reaching out for additional mental health support can be both stressful and scary, but working with someone who is understanding, patient, and willing makes all the difference!

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session, we will do brief introductions and discuss the current struggles you are experiencing. We will discuss any previous Mental Health treatment (if any), and go through expectations of the therapeutic relationship. After this, follow-up sessions will be scheduled to address the stated issues, and schedules will be made to effectively meet you where you are.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I have worked in the Social Work field for 5 years now, and have worked for the VA for 3 years. I am driven, motivated, non-judgmental, and I am here to be the best provider I can be for my clients. I am open to criticism, and prefer feedback from you personally so I know how to improve my work as a professional.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

CBT is a diverse and effective treatment modality used in anxiety, depression, PTSD, substance use disorders, and eating disorders. CBT has been effective with my clients to help them challenge those unwanted behaviors by changing their cognition and mindset about the world around them. CBT is an evidence-based approach that can allow a person to be more self-aware of their own thoughts, emotions, and behavior. In doing so, this allows you to change those negative interactions that exists among them and develop a better, healthier you!

Grief Therapy

Grief affects us all, but we all need a little help from time to time. I have helped numerous clients process their grief in a healthy and effective way. This allows them to gain control over their life and emotions after experiencing a loss.

Group Therapy

Group therapy is important for many different aspects of life. I have facilitated groups surrounding Anger Management, Substance Abuse, Coping Skills, and Mindfulness.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

Mindfulness is very important and effective when it comes to treating depression, improving sleep, reducing stress, and just allowing you to be aware of the present moment and your thoughts, feelings, and emotions.
