My practice provides culturally responsive counseling specializing in the unique mental health needs of Black and Brown women and girls. Research shows that when seeking mental health counseling and support, women and girls of color desire to be connected with mental health counselors who can provide culturally competent care that acknowledges the unique lived experiences impacting their mental health. My mission and passion is to hold space for you in a way that affirms and uplifts you while providing hope and healing.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session, we will get better acquainted through introductions and information and explore any questions you have about therapy expectations. Then, we will engage in a drawing activity where you will draw pictures and symbols of your current problems and challenges, as well as what it will look like when you achieve your healed place. After that, I will gather other background information to create a plan for moving forward in your treatment.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I have engaged in research efforts and experiences aimed at learning ways to provide culturally responsive treatment for Black and Brown women and girls. I am deeply committed to providing safe spaces where Black and Brown women and girls feel seen and uplifted while learning tools to promote their mental health from a culturally competent lens, acknowledging the intersections of race and gender.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

CBT has been a highly effective treatment method in my practice. We explore how thought patterns and triggering events influence emotions and behaviors and explore ways to be mindful of these patterns. We also explore ways to reframe and challenge irrational and limiting beliefs.
