Hello! My name is Jacqueline and I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT). I currently live in Tennessee, but do most of my work via telehealth with California residents (where I use to live!). I have been in this field for over 13 years. My therapeutic approach is client-centered, empathetic, and goal-focused with touches of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Solutions Focused.
Our first session is typically a "get to know you" time where I ask some direct questions to gather a picture of what you may need or want to work on in future sessions. I can also share a bit about myself and the style/approach I typically take within sessions. This is also a time when you can ask questions about therapy in general.
Having worked as a marriage and family therapist for over 13 years, I have developed a toolbox of tried and true tools to help lessen many mental health symptoms. I hope to be able to provide you with support through the challenging times you may be experiencing by providing a safe space to talk and guidance through those difficult times.
My specialties and interests are supporting and empowering mothers having difficulty with pre- and postpartum, parenting transitions, new baby care, parenting challenges with toddlers/teens, or adapting to a child's new diagnosis. I also have a lot of experience with trauma-informed care, anxiety, grief and depression within the adult population.
I've been using CBT in my practice for over 13 years. It's my go to because it's helped dozen of clients challenge their reoccurring thoughts and helped them feel more in control of their mental health symptoms, like anxiety.
SFBT is one of my favorite modalities because it looks at problem solving a little different than other popular therapeutic approaches. In session, while using SFBT, we look at when the problem isn't there, which in turn, will help us find solutions that may already be there.
Mindfulness-Based Therapy has peppered my therapeutic approach since the beginning of my professional career. Typically, I like to integrate mindfulness into existing modalities and use it throughout sessions. I find that it goes hand in hand with CBT by teaching clients to observe thoughts non-judgmentally instead of immediately challenging or avoiding them.
