Hi, my name is Sharon. I’m a military spouse of 26 years and counting, with 15 years of experience in the mental health field. Traveling the country and meeting people from all walks of life helped solidify my passion and desire to help others achieve their personal self-care goals and become the best versions of themselves. Caring for others is my small way of helping to make a difference in the lives of others during these challenges times. I believe in treating the whole person, the mental, emotional, spiritual, and physical aspects. When we are centered and have balance in those areas, it is my belief that we thrive and feel more confident that we can cope when faced with any challenge. I specialize in anxiety, depression, mood disorders, trauma, mild cognitive impairment, couple’s communication, anger management and more. I help you identify the challenging areas of your life and identify your strengths while learning new ways of thinking and behaving to achieve you self-identified therapy goals. In therapy, I promote self-autonomy, self-advocacy, and prioritizing your needs. I find that it is rare that my clients do not know what needs to change in their lives but how to begin making those changes and acting on that change consistently is where the challenge often lies. Rest assured that you will have a mentor, coach, teacher, and avid listener every step of the way. If you are willing to commit to your self-care through courage, consistency, and hard work, you can expect to walk away from our time together with a better sense of self, feeling more confident that you can handle daily life challenges, a tool chest of skills, and with an overall sense of well-being.
What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?
Clients can expect that I will show up my genuine authentic self from day one and throughout the therapeutic relationship. My approach is laid back and welcoming. I love creating an environment that makes people feel welcome, cared for, heard, and hopeful that change can occur in their lives. I like transparency and welcome questions. I like to ensure my clients that they have autonomy over their life and their choices. I'm a neutral advisor at times, I am a teacher, a listener, a consultant of sorts, and an inspirational and motivational stimulator, and other times I pose difficult questions for my clients to ponder. Lastly, I am upfront I am not interested in helping a person remain stagnant or stuck. My investment is in your quality of life and helping you be the best version of yourself that you can be. Growing and evolving is a change process and if this is what you are seeking I will be there for you every step of the journey.
Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.
Some of my greatest strengths are my ability to empathize, my genuine care and concern for people, and most importantly my ability to foster a sense of hope that things can get better.
