As a licensed professional counselor, I provide an empathetic approach to counseling. My goal is to create a trusting environment to build a positive therapeutic relationship. By doing this, my client is able to discuss those issues they may have never disclosed before. My specialty is in behavior modification for children (beginning at 3 years old) and also trauma for children through adults. I also have experience working with anxiety, depression, bereavement, ADHD, self-harm, mood disorders, personality disorders, and anger management. I use evidence-based therapy such as CBT, TF-CBT, DBT, and EMDR I use a warm, non-judgmental approach to help clients better understand their patterns of feeling, thinking, and behaving and to learn to cope and communicate in healthier ways.
What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?
During our first session, we will go over your background and what brought you to therapy. Together, we will come up with a plan to address all of your needs. This is the time we get to know each other. Being comfortable in meeting someone new is the key to therapy.
What treatment methods and tools do you utilize?
Depending on your needs, I am trained in several different treatment modalities. I like to use CBT, DBT, TF-CBT, and EMDR. For children, I like to incorporate play into the sessions. Playing opens many windows into a child's life.
Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.
After two years into my career, I found my niche' in trauma work. Since then, I have focused all of my training on trauma. This has helped me learn how to help my client in the best way possible.
