Licensed to practice in Maryland and accepts 34 insurances. Specializes in Anxiety, Depression, Eating Disorders and 1 more.
I worked as a Registered Nurse at a hospital for about 12 years on a unit that specializes in Mood Disorders, like depression and bipolar disorder, and Eating Disorders. I have been working as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner since 2018. I am straightforward and will do my best to meet you, figuratively, where you are. I would like to involve you in a clinically appropriate plan. We will discuss options and I will answer questions before we proceed. I primarily do medication management but supplement with brief supportive therapy. I do return emails/calls and I value being able to speak with other providers treating you, such as therapists and primary care providers.
In our first meeting, we will start with introductions and the reason for the meeting. We will review symptoms and likely come up with a plan that is clinically appropriate and that you think is reasonable. You will have my contact information and be given an opportunity to have your questions answered.
Working with anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, and eating disorders has been fulfilling. I listen and do my best to teach the people I work with to combat these symptoms with a variety of tools. I am straightforward but also compassionate.
I will work with anyone ages 6 and older. I am not taking new patients over age 16 who are seeking to treat focus issues with stimulants, like Vyvanse, Ritalin, Adderall, etc.. My primary focus is medication management. I can do brief supportive therapy, but if the person is seeking primarily talk therapy, then I am not the right provider for them.

James Perritt is a caring and intensely good mental healthcare provider. He really listens and is supportive. I'm a nerd and I enjoy needy things. It's really great to have someone who gets nerd culture and doesn't try to "heal me" of my hobbies and interests. He was with me and empowered me through one of the hardest parts of my life and I am thankful to him, to the medication he helped me get on and the safeguard of my mental health he provided. He's a hero.

Jim Perritt is an intelligent practitioner who is goal-oriented for the patient. He relates to people with empathy and understanding. I enjoyed knowing him and still do.
