Greetings, I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). I earned my first master’s degree in religious studies (MAR) from Yale University and then went on to earn my master’s in social work (MSW) from The Catholic University of America in Washington, DC. My philosophy as a clinician is that each client is the expert in their own lives. As your clinician I am here to journey through this chapter of life alongside of you.
In our first session we will identify what has brought you to therapy, identify goals that you would like to accomplish and start to build a positive rapport.
Before I am a clinician, I am human, just like each of the clients I work with. A few of my greatest strengths are (a) being authentic, honest and candid (b) creating space for clients to feel secure and safe (c) holding myself accountable. I am often told that I have never met a stranger!
I enjoy working with individuals who are self-aware or who aspire to be. Clients who are open to being accountable and temporarily uncomfortable in order to grow and meet their self-identified goals have connected with my approach to building a therapeutic relationship.
CBT is a collaborative and structured approach where client and I work together to identify and change patterns of thinking or behavior that are causing distress. CBT is widely used for a range of mental health conditions including anxiety disorders, depression, PTSD, OCD, and more.
Cultural awareness and intersectionality are core to my philosophy and my work ethic. Being aware that culture influences how one sees oneself, the choices one makes and how one shows up in society.
Trauma-informed therapy is an approach that acknowledges the grave impact of trauma on individuals and aims to create an environment that promotes safety, trustworthiness, autonomy, collaboration, and empowerment for clients. Utilizing this framework, I aim to create a healing environment where clients can identify, process their trauma and move toward recovery at their own pace.
