My name is Amber, I have worked in the mental health field for the last 13 years. I started my career working with domestic violence and sexual assault survivors. During my time working for that victim services department, I also did outreach with the youth in my area. My career next directed to the Forensic population. Mentally ill client's that had felony charges. The next step in my career was working with parents battling addition and had a open case with DCF. I provided in home substance abuse and mental health counseling. I enjoy working with the substance abuse community. I work with client from the age of 13 to 101. I have a master's in substance abuse counseling and my License in mental health counseling.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

I am opening in my first session with a client. We will send the first couple session getting to know each other and what brings you to counseling. Counseling with me is at your own pace and what you feel comfortable with.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I work hard to provide no nonjudgmental environment. I understand that a lot of people wo seek out counseling are battling with something, and I want to be as respectful as I can.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I have worked in the substance abuse field for the last 7 years. CBT is a known therapeutic practice with the SU population. I also worked for 9 months with domestic violence client where this approach was able to redirect what the abuser had planted in their head.

Couples Counseling

I have 1 year of working with couples in the therapeutic approach.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

I was trained in June of 2024 in DBT. Working will the substance abuse population more direct approach is needed

EMDR

I was trained in EMDR 6 months ago. I have had follow up sessions with my supervisor.
