Hello!!! I am Jeri Howell a Licensed therapist from Illinois. I have a Master's Degree in Human Development Counseling and i have been practicing for over 25 years. I want to help people recognize their own strengths and build on the resilience they already possess. I work with individuals and couples as well as teens and young adults. I am available for telehealth and in person at the Be Well Therapy Center in Mt Sterling IL.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

From the first session we will be building our rapport and I will do my best to help you manage whatever you are struggling with. i will challenge you to think differently and explore what changes you may want to make in order to achieve goals you may have for your life. We will collaborate throughout the process, reviewing goals and strategies that may or may not be working and adjust treatment methods as needed.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I have worked with a diverse population and feel that incorporating multiple aspects of a clients life can be helpful in getting them the results they are looking for from treatment. I feel I am compassionate and i feel that the treatment is a collaborative process that we are a team.... we are in this together!!!

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I empower clients to see how their thinking is connected to their behaviors. We will explore ways to change your thought process in order to live the life you are meant to live.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

I incorporate several DBT skill sets and encourage my clients to practice skills so that they recognize that they can control how they think and feel. I help them recognize the benefits of working to be in our wise mind and see the value and benefit of balancing our rational mind and emotion mind.

Group Therapy

I enjoy finding groups that help people gather and build supports from a common need all members may be looking to fill. I feel people can benefit from interacting within a group setting and build supports via a common issue they all may be struggling with. It can help to see others are going through the same things as us and we can get so many added perspectives when we engage in group treatment.

Couples Counseling

I feel that each individual in a relationship brings their own set of strengths and areas for growth and understanding. We will work to establish core issues that each of you bring to the relationship and learn about your individual schemas that can guide some possible ineffective communication styles and interactions you have with your partner. We will work on communicating and listening to each other so that you can each be a better person and partner in all your relationships.
