Hi, I'm Samantha and I am a Licensed Counselor in the states of New York and New Jersey with over 10 years of experience. Accompanying my strong passion and devotion to the mental health profession is my wide variety of professional experiences across disciplines and populations. I use a cognitive behavioral and solution-focused approach to therapy in order to create a welcoming and comfortable atmosphere where clients can freely express themselves without the fear of judgement. My goal is to help clients transform themselves into stronger, more self-aware people.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

In our first session, you can look forward a warm, inviting, person-centered environment that focuses on getting to know you more. I believe in getting to know where my clients are currently at in their lives, therefore we will spend some time discussing your background to the extent that you are most comfortable with at that time. In the first session we will briefly discuss therapy expectations, confidentiality, and the logistics of telehealth therapy. We will then continue our conversation regarding what brings you to therapy. From this discussion we will begin to develop our therapeutic relationship through open communication and diving deeper into the who, what, why, and how of your presenting concerns. In your first session, we may even begin to discuss coping strategies and get some therapy homework as well!

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

As a licensed therapist who has worked in various settings such as non-profits, hospitals, universities, telehealth and private practice I have learned wonderful and helpful strategies to assist others in working through some of life's most difficult times. In order to work with such a variety of people from all walks of life I have found my greatest strengths as a provider to include: active listening, lack of biases and judgments, as well as helping clients to understand the root causes of mental health issues while developing strategies and skills that resolve those inner conflicts.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

In an ever-changing world, there is no shame in admitting when you're stuck. From an outsider perspective you may appear to have things under control; but mentally, you may be consumed by negative thoughts, about the past and/or fears of not achieving in the future. I welcome you to therapy! I have years of experience working with clients who are experiencing life transitions, navigating challenging interpersonal relationships, improving communication, bettering self-worth and esteem, as well as managing symptoms of anxiety, depression, and mood disorders.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

As a Licensed Mental Health Counselor I have learned that how we think and feel internally truly has a lot to do with how we operate, interpret, and interact with the world around us. Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is my preferred treatment method in therapy due to its overall effectiveness and the positive impact CBT has had on the mental health of individuals I have worked with over the years. I truly believe in meeting every client where they are currently at. A strong focus of my work using CBT is emphasizing what is going on in the person’s current life while discussing what occurred up to the point, finding ways to make peace with the past decisions and experiences they no longer have control over, while developing good strategies for the future. In my work using CBT I make time and space for my clients to explore their mental health concerns diving into those patterns of faulty/unhelpful ways of thinking and learned unhelpful behaviors, with the goal of teaching new and effective ways of coping, reducing symptoms, and living more fulfilling lives. In practice I do this by helping clients to recognize their current distortions in thinking, helping them in gaining a better understanding of the behavior associated, collaborating to problem-solving difficult situations, and learning to develop a greater sense of confidence in one’s own abilities. I have used CBT with work with various clients over the years and have found success in using CBT to treat: depression, anxiety disorders, life transitions, interpersonal/relationship problems, and severe mental illness.
