Hi welcome to my page. My name is Sarina Campos, Licensed Marriage and Family therapist. I have a Master's of Science degree in Clinical Psychology. I have 14 years of clinical experience providing individual, family, group, and couples therapy. I also extensive experience providing parent coaching to parents who struggle to support children and adolescents who experience intense emotions or feel they have to “walk on eggshells” around their children in order to avoid explosions of feelings and behaviors. I have been a provider in school-based setting, private practice, community agencies, and hospital setting providing evidence based treatment.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

I know how difficult it can be to be vulnerable and open up to someone in therapy. Keeping that in mind, I provide a safe judgement free zone so you can tell your story and share what barriers are blocking you between you and the life you want to live. I know there can be discomfort in the sharing process and I try to support you in hopes I can make you feel seen and heard.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

In each session, I try to make sure the tools I provide to you in our sessions cater to meet your direct individual needs. I provide direct and honest feedback while utilizing humor and compassion to support you on your journey.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

The constant pressures and challenges of daily living can lead to leaning on unhealthy coping skills or unhealthy habits. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy can help you manage your challenges by changing the way you think and behave. CBT can help increase awareness in how your thinking can impact your moods in order to create a more satisfying life. We can utilize CBT to highlight any challenges with negative thoughts and learning to break any habits that are creating obstacles in your life.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

Many of us have never been taught how to experience painful emotions. Instead we confuse coping with retail therapy, alcohol, self-harm, overworking or accumulating achievements to escape what hurts us. These fixes are temporary and ultimately lead to more pain. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy can teach you how to tolerate intense emotions without engage in unhelpful behaviors or habits. DBT can help you learn to accept yourself and where you are in this moment while working on changing behaviors that may be impacting you to create a life worth living. DBT teaches practice skills to help tolerate a crisis, problems with everyday living, and struggling with difficult interpersonal situations. DBT helps you feel more in control of your emotions rather than your emotions controlling you.

Couples Counseling

Resentment can build when you and your partner struggle to move past issues. Couples therapy can help you increase awareness of how you and your partner address challenges in your daily life. I help you to work on strengthening communication, build understanding and empathy in your relationships, help to resolve conflicts and learn to work through life's challenges while learning skills to improve emotion regulation and enhance how you work through disagreements.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

Mindfulness is being aware of thoughts and feelings without increasing stress or with judgement. It allows you to learn how to identify dysfunctional or unhelpful thoughts and shows you how to choose different thoughts utilizing stress management techniques. By increasing your awareness of how you think you can learn to avoid destructive, automatic responses, or unhealthy habits.
