I have experience with a broad range of issues including sex trafficking, domestic abuse/violence, substance use, and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, as well as more common experiences of depression, anxiety, and struggles with developmental and life transitions. Together, you and I can identify the most pressing matters that you wish to address and determine a treatment plan targeted to your preferred outcomes.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session together, we'll start with brief introductions, gather social history information and then dive into the specific challenges you're facing. This will help me create a tailored plan for us to work through in follow-up sessions. You can expect to be able to share your challenges in a judgement free environment with someone who has a down to earth approach in my interactions with you.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My treatment methods

EMDR

Clients have shared they have been surprised what they have noticed and been able to process and also shared a having a positive experience with Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing . I use a remote EMDR program to assist individuals to process trauma and stressors in their life. I guide individuals through 8 stages of procedures designed to stimulate bilateral brain activity. EMDR focuses on the memory and is intended to change the way the memory is stored in the brain, thus reducing and eliminating the problematic symptoms.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

I have found Mindfulness exercises to be helpful to clients in managing stress, depression and anxiety symptoms and to bring conscious awareness of the present moment. Mindfulness involves approaching situations with an air of non-judgement and openness viewing yourself and your life from a non-judgemental point of view, Paying close attention to your environment and focusing on the moment with your undivided attention. I often will use a combination of CBT and ACT therapy in conjunction with Mindfulness to assist clients with anxiety, depression, PTSD symptoms, increase coping skills and stress management. Some mindfulness techniques I use include breathing exercises, medication and muscle relaxation.

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

ACT is a mindfulness based therapy. I have found ACT therapy to be very helpful in assisting individuals to help stay focused on the present moment and accept thoughts and feelings without judgement to decrease symptoms of depression, anxiety, PTSD and other behavioral health symptoms.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I use Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) , an evidenced based form of treatment to assist individuals with a variety of behavioral health symptoms including depression, anxiety disorders, PTSD, transition issues, stress, alcohol and drug use problems, and mood disorders. I use varying CBT tools to teach cognitive recognition of thoughts patterns and cognitive re-framing, teaching one to recognize distortions in thinking that are creating problems, and then to reevaluate them so individuals can gain a better understanding of behavior and motivation, use of problem-solving skills to cope with difficult situations and to gain a greater sense of confidence in one’s own abilities.
