I am a veteran of the USAF and learned what NOT to do, and graduated from Texas A&M University with a B.A. in Psychology, and an M.A. in Counseling and Education. I began counseling in Christian ministry in 1984 and have a biblical focus on counseling. I have worked as the lead clinical therapist at inpatient treatment centers for adult women with trauma, as well as an inpatient treatment center with teens focused on behavioral issues. I have also worked with single adults, married couples, and retirees. I have also worked in Intensive outpatient programs for adult men. I have been trained in EMDR therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID) therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Shame resiliency, Grief resolution, Solution-focused therapy (SFT). What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?
In our first session we will meet and talk about your goals for treatment and I will answer questions you may have about me, and the treatment process.
What treatment methods and tools do you utilize?
Depending on where you are, we will use the treatment modalities best suited to foster a better, more manageable daily life. You can go from just surviving, to thriving. I am trained in EMDR, DID, ACT, CBT, CPT, DBT and other treatment modalities. If you are a Christian, our focus will be biblically based spiritual growth.
Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.
I have served in Christian ministry since 1983 and believe God's Word provides the road map for a life of peace and purpose. I have served at trauma treatment centers for women and teens, both inpatient, and outpatient and have life experience to help you learn to manage your life and go from just surviving, to thriving with a life of meaning and purpose.
