Are you in a relationship that is not how you’d like it to be? Or are you not currently in a relationship, but you want to be? You may have a history of unsatisfactory or dysfunctional relationships and are ready to break the pattern. You are suffering. Perhaps you find yourself experiencing feelings such as Frustration, Disappointment, Depression, Despair, Anxiety, Self-doubt, Low self-worth, a Lack of inner peace. Whether you are currently in a relationship or not, my role is to help you to uncover potential reasons for struggles and breakdowns in relationships. I specialize in understanding the dynamics involved in unhealthy relationships and the components required for healthy relationships. We can explore these together, in relation to your specific circumstances and history. I work with individuals and we can address issues such as Communication, Arguments, Abuse, Trust, Respect, Needs, Wishes, Thoughts and Feelings. Originally trained as a Psychotherapist in London, England, I have now been living and working in the USA for over a decade. My principal goals in our therapy sessions are: To listen to you and really hear you; to explore your past and present together; to provide you with genuinely empathic emotional support; and to facilitate the arrival of insight in relation to life 'in your shoes' so that you gain ideas for how to move forward and achieve your personal goals.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

Our first meeting will be an intake session. You'll tell me whatever you want to tell me about what has led you to seek 'therapy at this time, I'll ask you questions that will enable me to form a clear picture of what you are experiencing and what you need, you can ask me any questions, and I'll formulate an initial treatment plan which can be modified as we go along according to what you need.

What treatment methods and tools do you utilize?

I integrate aspects from various psychotherapeutic approaches, according to what I intuit is most useful. The central principle within Psychodynamic theory is the recognition that our early years shape us. As children, we receive information from significant people and events as if factual. A damaging, distorted set of beliefs and views may ensue. Reassessment and re-learning are required. Cognitive therapy is about recognizing one's hindering and restrictive thoughts, questioning the truth and usefulness of such thoughts, followed by a process of reconstruction. The Transpersonal approach lends itself to locating the essence of an individual beyond the ego, so that a client may live more consciously, authentically and congruently, in accord with their unique set of inner qualities.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My biggest strength is my ability to see ‘the bigger picture’ from the information my clients share with me, to be able to identify the root causes of problems and therefore to be able to pinpoint what is needed and help my clients to gain the insight that will enable them to know what they need. Additionally, I see my personal experiences, in terms of various emotional/psychological traumas whilst growing up and then as an adult in my intimate relationships, as having given me an even greater ability to understand my clients’ pain, suffering and struggles, and to have firsthand knowledge of what could help. So, the concept of “The Wounded Healer” plays an integral part in my work, as well as my professional training and natural gifts contributing to what I can provide for my clients.
