Hi! My name is Alyssa Patenaude and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I earned my Master's Degree from Central Connecticut State University in 2017 and have been practicing since. I use a strength-based, non-judgmental, systemic approach by looking at all the factors that might be contributing to these behaviors and stressors to help alleviate blame, increase support, and help you function as your best self.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session, I like us to get to know each other and identify therapeutic goals. I try to make my sessions as comfortable as possible because I know how vulnerable therapy can be.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

Being a therapist who is in therapy herself, I know how it feels being on both sides of the computer screen. Due to this experience, I do my best to connect with my clients on a deeper level to earn their trust and encourage them to ask me questions as well so you can get the most out of your therapeutic journey.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

CBT is one of the first models I began using in my practice. I am drawn to this model because it helps clients identify and change unhelpful thought patterns and behaviors. By using CBT, I help to empower clients to understand and change their thought patterns and behaviors, leading to lasting improvements in their mental health and overall well-being.

Couples Counseling

As a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, I often use couples counseling to help partners improve their communication, resolve conflicts, and strengthen their relationships. By using couples counseling, I help partners develop the tools and insights they need to improve their relationship, leading to greater understanding, cooperation, and emotional connection.

Family Therapy

In my therapy sessions, I use family therapy to help families improve their communication, resolve conflicts, and strengthen their relationships. By using this, I can help families develop the tools and insights they need to improve their relationships, leading to greater understanding, cooperation, and emotional support within the family unit.
