“Life can just be lived. You don’t have to: Prove anyone wrong…Make anyone proud…Change the world…Leave a lasting legacy… You can simply show up, find the joy, be good to you and others, learn from the pain, hold yourself accountable, relish in the wonder of it and ride this thing out” -Rachel Cargle I know what it's like to be marginalized because of my identity. I use a culturally intentional, person-centered approach, and tailor therapeutic interventions based on each individuals wants, needs, goals, and unique circumstances. Grow Therapy gives me a platform to provide direct services to individuals seeking change in a safe and liberated space. You feel something-speak on it. We should never feel like we have to censor parts of ourselves in therapy. Real conversations result in real progress. Whether you're dealing with depression, anxiety, relationship issues, or parental challenges, I am here to help you. Let's do some great work together.
It can be weird, awkward, or anxiety provoking to meet with a therapist for the first time. I will ask questions to get to know you and your situation. You can feel free to ask me questions as well. After I ask my questions, I’ll share with you only my thoughts and observations about what you’ve told me, so you always know what I’m thinking and to make sure I really understand. Then I’ll share with you my initial thoughts and plan for how we can work to get you feeling better.
I use cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), a form of psychotherapy that combines cognitive therapy and behavioral therapy to form a more holistic approach. CBT teaches patients to recognize and challenge unhelpful or irrational thoughts that may influence their emotions and behaviors. The emphasis is on understanding the connection between thoughts, emotions, and actions, and developing a more balanced perspective and response. During sessions, patients can practice and hone new skills, as well as apply them outside of sessions through tracking or monitoring their thoughts and behaviors. I encourage patients to utilize worksheets to track their progress and quick guides to use in times of distress.
I have experience working with Veterans, new mothers, and individuals experiencing depression and anxiety symptoms. I am certified in perinatal mental health.
