I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor whose years of experience include time in both inpatient and outpatient settings. I have worked with children, teens, and adults struggling with a variety of different mental health and substance use disorders. I take a client-centered and trauma-informed approach to counseling, using primarily cognitive behavioral and dialectical behavioral skills to empower individuals to overcome challenges so they can live their best authentic lives.
During the first session we review the informed consent and limits of confidentiality, and we complete an intake assessment that includes gathering background information about your medical and mental health, life history and circumstances, relationships, and current symptoms. The process can seem daunting, so I try to create a warm, accepting environment where you feel comfortable and have the space to ask questions and discuss any concerns you may have.
Having worked with many different clients from all walks of life, I would say I am pretty good at adapting my approach to clients based on where they are on their journey and how I can best help them. I am an excellent listener, objective, nonjudgmental, and truly want to help people reach their full potential.
I determine each client's treatment based on their individual needs and goals; some approaches may be appropriate or work better for certain clients and not others, so I work to find what suits the person best.
