Hello. My name is Monica, and I am a licensed therapist in North Carolina (NC). I am a native of New York City, but I have lived in NC for many years. I was once a military spouse, which has helped me grasp an understanding of military life and transitions that only living that life can provide. I have been told that I am easy to talk to and people find comfort in sharing their story with me. My method of counseling is supportive, affirming and client-centered. I am passionate about helping others achieve their goals. I look forward to partnering with you on your journey.
What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?
Sessions with me involve what is typically defined as talk therapy. Through conversations we will be able to identify and label the challenges you face and find practical ways to address and cope with them. I work to empower and motivate you to achieve your desired outcome, gain an understanding of your thoughts, and support a sense of acceptance in matters that may seem unchangeable.
What treatment methods and tools do you utilize?
I typically use elements of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) in my sessions. However, I also use components of solution-focused therapy and others based on the needs of the client. The person-centered approach indicates that treatment is designed based on the individual and often involves a strengths-based model. I use talk therapy, worksheets, educational handouts, and homework assignments regularly, as well. At this time, I offer telehealth sessions where our visits are held via video.
Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.
My areas incude anxiety, stress management, depression, life transitions, grief, self-esteem, and women's issues. My approach is a perfect method to help you feel empowered in knowing that you have the information, tools and strategies to move forward.
