I am a licensed clinical social worker with over a decade of experience working with a wide range of individuals. I have several years of experience working with the refugee community, including completing psychological evaluations for asylum seekers. I also have several years of experience working with young professionals and college students in a private practice setting. I have 6 years of experience working in the DC Public School system at an elementary school, and am very comfortable working with young children, adolescents, and individuals who are neurodivergent, based on this experience. I areas of expertise are trauma recovery, anxiety disorders, managing difficult life transitions, grief & loss, and working with children/adolescents.
During our first session, we will be getting to know each other and making sure we are the best match for each other. You will share what you are seeking from therapy as well as important life information, and we will start working on developing your therapeutic goals. You will also have the opportunity to ask any questions you have of me regarding our work together and what to expect from the therapeutic process.
My strength is being goal-centered. I believe that therapy should be grounded in your goals and achieving them in a reasonable time period so you can start the next chapter of your life with the tools to be the best you possible.
I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to help clients uncover negative thought distortions and the core beliefs connected to them, and work toward shifting those distortions to more helpful thought cognitions.
I use a feminist lens to help clients of all genders gain insight and perspective into the therapeutic work.
Attachment styles can greatly influence the ways we show up and make choices in all of our relationships. I help clients explore their attachment styles and how they impact day to day life and important relationships.
Mindfulness is a hugely impactful exercise to help us manage difficult emotions, stop and think before we act, and address issues like insomnia and anger. I help clients develop healthy habits of mindfulness and incorporate them into their daily lives.
I believe one of the best ways to treat your mental health is to understand it. I incorporate as much psychoeducation into my practice as possible to help normalize and better understand what my clients are experiencing.
