PMHNP, 22 years of experience
Hello, my name is Dr. Thamar Maurice, DNP, PMHNP-BC, FNP-BC. I am a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner who earned my Doctorate in Nursing Practice and Post-Master’s Certificate in Psychiatric Mental Health from Florida International University. I am board-certified by the ANCC and also credentialed as a Family Nurse Practitioner. Caring for individuals in need—mentally, physically, and emotionally—is my true passion. My mission is to provide comprehensive, compassionate, and evidence-based care that empowers individuals to live healthier and more fulfilling lives. I currently offer virtual behavioral health services, creating a safe and supportive space for those seeking help with depression, anxiety, trauma, bipolar disorder, PTSD, and many other mental health concerns.
What to Expect at Your First Visit Your first appointment is an important step in your journey to better mental health. During this visit, we will: • Get to Know You – I’ll ask about your medical history, mental health concerns, lifestyle, and goals for care. This helps me understand your unique needs. • Discuss Your Symptoms – We’ll talk openly about what you’ve been experiencing (such as anxiety, depression, trauma, or other challenges) in a safe, judgment-free space. • Create a Care Plan – Together, we’ll develop a personalized treatment plan. This may include therapy, coping strategies, lifestyle changes, and/or medication options if appropriate. • Answer Your Questions – You’ll have the opportunity to ask any questions about your diagnosis, treatment options, or the process moving forward. How to Prepare • Bring a list of your current medications (if any). • Be ready to share your medical and mental health history. • Write down any questions or concerns you’d like to address. My goal is to make your first visit comfortable, supportive, and focused entirely on you and your well-being.
My greatest strength as a provider is my ability to connect with people. I take the time to truly listen, understand, and build trust with each patient. This creates a safe and supportive space where you feel comfortable sharing your experiences. By combining compassion with evidence-based care, I empower my patients to heal, grow, and live healthier, more fulfilling lives.
I am dedicated to helping individuals living with depression, anxiety, PTSD, bipolar disorder, trauma, addiction, and other mental health conditions through evidence-based care such as cognitive behavioral therapy. I thrive on building strong, trusting relationships with my patients across all healthcare environments, ensuring they receive the compassionate and individualized support they need to live vibrant and healthy lives. My approach integrates clinical expertise with empathy, empowering patients to navigate challenges and achieve meaningful progress. I provide comprehensive support for a wide range of mental health needs, addressing both immediate concerns and long-term wellness goals, with a focus on healing, resilience, and transformation.

She has been full of energy and able to hear my main concerns and as to why am in need of her expertise! She ensures to make one feel as a friend rather than in a cold uncomfortable chair asking millions of questions. Today mark my third session with her and am already looking forward my next! It was lots of fun today. Like everything else- it’s a process and one would not see gains in day one or two- it takes time to evolve and cope. So thank your advice and time!
