Are past memories or future worries getting in the way of you enjoying the present? Living with trauma, anxiety, and OCD can feel like being trapped in a never-ending cycle of simply surviving each day. It can be difficult to move beyond just coping and start thriving. That's why I offer a safe and compassionate space for women to heal and discover themselves. My goal is to help women shift from just getting by to actively shaping their future, embracing a life of purpose and fulfillment. My name is Kristina and I'm a licensed marriage and family therapist with over nine years of experience working with clients from all walks of life. My current practice specializes in supporting women with trauma and anxiety stemming from a range of experiences, whether they're rooted in early childhood challenges, instances of sexual abuse, relationship difficulties, or issues related to the perinatal period. While traditional talk therapy has its merits, I firmly believe in a more encompassing approach. Healing requires a holistic method that considers and addresses both the cognitive processes in the brain and the physiological reactions in the body. I use mind-body therapy approaches to promote deep, transformative healing and pave the way for enduring change in your life.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

Our initial sessions will focus on exploring the reasons you've sought therapy, pinpointing your objectives, and exploring the best strategies to help you achieve them. As we progress, each session will involve us partnering together to help you reach your goals. Recognize that everyone's journey is unique, and the nature of our sessions may vary over time. You can expect a safe, nonjudgmental space where you can freely explore your thoughts and feelings without feeling the need to censor yourself. I am not offended by cursing! Therapy with me won’t feel intimidating. I use a trauma informed care approach, meaning that we connect your present day symptoms to the experiences and memories where they started. This perspective helps us to understand what happened to you, not what is "wrong" with you (even if you don't remember anything happening to you). My goal is to help you address not only the symptoms, but more importantly, the root of the issue, as this will help you achieve deep healing and long-lasting change. NOTE: Paperwork needs to be filled out before first session or I will need to cancel session.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

One of my greatest strengths is my ability to deeply connect with my clients in a way that makes them feel heard and understood. My clients describe me as a therapist that is honest, authentic, intuitive, non-judgmental and compassionate. They feel I can relate to their experiences and just “get” them when they bare their hearts and souls to me. Another strength of mine is my expertise in utilizing cutting-edge modalities such as EMDR, Brainspotting, ego state therapy, polyvagal therapy, and somatic techniques to facilitate healing and growth. Many of the clients I've worked with report symptom relief that they were previously unable to achieve with years of being in talk therapy alone.

My treatment methods

EMDR

EMDR is my primary modality and I’ve treated a variety of traumatic experiences and other issues using this approach. As a certified EMDR therapist, I believe that many of our current struggles can be linked to distressing or traumatic experiences from the past that haven't been fully processed. These unresolved memories can influence how you feel and react today. We'll address and process these memories, helping you feel better faster. I incorporate ego state work, polyvagal theory, somatic therapy, and an attachment focus into my EMDR practice.

Brainspotting

Brainspotting is a method that taps into your body's innate ability to heal itself by locating spots in your visual field to help process trauma. I'm Phases 1 and 2, and often use this approach in conjunction with EMDR to facilitate deep healing and symptom resolution.

Exposure Response Prevention (ERP)

ERP helps individuals with phobias and OCD gradually confront their fears and break free from the cycle of avoidance and compulsions. I often combine ERP with EMDR.
