Hi! My name is Hannah and I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor. In 2020, I graduated from San Diego State University with a Master's Degree in Child Development with a concentration in early childhood mental health. I became a therapist so that I could help others feel less alone in what they are feeling or what they are going through. Since practicing over the last four years, I have been supporting children and adolescents (ages 5-19) by providing short term therapeutic services. Since starting to provide therapy during the recent global pandemic, I have extreme gratitude for connection and the vulnerability that many so bravely have as they make the decision to start therapy and focus on improving their mental health. I have a great appreciation for humor, the outdoors, my two cats, and music. I encourage everyone to find ways to introduce moments of peace and happiness into each day.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

The purpose of our first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other, learn about what you want your life to look like, develop therapeutic goals, and determine if this will be a good fit to meet your needs. You are the expert in your life and I am grateful for the opportunity to learn about you, your experiences and what brings you to therapy. My purpose throughout treatment is to support you on your journey towards your life goals. I understand that sharing about your life can bring up strong emotions and at times feel vulnerable. I hope to create a safe space that allows you to feel comfortable sharing about your thoughts and feelings.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

The majority of my experience providing therapy services has been working with children and adolescents, and their families. While individual therapy services are meant to support the individual, when working with children and adolescents, including their families in services is pivotal to success. My empathy, understanding and strong belief in the positive impact of therapy can support you in your journey to healing.

My treatment methods

Strength-Based

Using a person's strengths can be the key to achieving life changing goals and overcoming challenges. Strength-based treatment can improve a person's self-esteem, motivation and ability to successfully develop new skills to manage difficult feelings and stressors. As children and adolescents are experiencing a stage of developing their identity, a strength-based approach in therapy allows adolescents to safely express themselves, develop new found confidence and improve their mental health.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is a helpful and tactile way of developing strategies to improve how we handle difficult feelings and situations. CBT allows us to identify, deconstruct, and reframe negative thoughts, so that we can begin to implement more helpful thoughts that increase our ability to overcome life's inevitable challenges.

Psychodynamic

During childhood, there are experiences that will later impact clients in their lives, typically due to repressed emotions or unconscious emotional experiences. By processing these experiences in therapy, clients can learn how these experiences are impacting their current interpersonal relationships and decision making processes. A focus on these past experiences can support clients with improving their understanding of their situations to better align with their personal values and goals.
