My name is Jacob Lapides and I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) in California and I have been in this field for over 10 years now. I am a Holistic therapist who likes to focus on healing an individual from all aspects including mind-body wellness. I bring an eclectic skill set of many different therapeutic approaches and orientations so that I can use different techniques to find the best tools and interventions to help and support whoever I am working with.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session I will share more information about myself and my approach to therapy and what I find helps create growth and success. I will review ethical and legal agreements to ensure that is clear. I will then get curious about what is currently bringing you to seek therapy and what you feel is impacting you the most. I like to bring my authentic self into the sessions as I believe it makes it easier for someone to feel safe and trusting to be able to go deep with their therapy and get the most out of each session.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

Some of my greatest strengths are that I am a genuinely compassionate, caring, and empathetic person. I am truly fascinated by people and have an earnest desire to help and support others. I am not judgemental and am very open and accepting as well as experienced in working with individuals from unique backgrounds, different cultures, or marginalized communities. I bring my authentic self into the therapeutic relationship to align as both of us being human beings and you being the expert of you. I am open to feedback, I'm humble, and always looking to improve and grow as a person and therapist.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy as the main base of modality for my approach but combine it with Somatic techniques, mindfulness tools, and client-centered strength-based approaches.

Trauma Informed Care

I view everything from a trauma-informed lens and will help you get to the root of your issues. I believe that things like anxiety and depression are symptoms of a deeper issue likely related to trauma or other issues from childhood.

Couples Counseling

I have been working with couples for 3+ years now and utilize Gottman methods and tools as well as other couples therapy techniques and approaches.

Mind-body approach

I like to utilize tools and approaches to bring things into the body and ground the work into the body as releasing old stories, wounds, patterns, and beliefs is extremely helpful in healing and growth.

Attachment-based

I like looking at things through a lens of attachment and how that impacts relationship dynamics, patterns in functioning, and all areas of life.
