Doing the same thing and expecting different results...the definition of insanity! Many have tried therapy in the past only to see a lack of results, or worse, feel unheard and misunderstood. I pride myself on breaking the mold of your preconceived opinion of therapists and accompanying you on your journey of healing. It is easy to find ourselves feeling stuck in life, and before we know it we have spent far too long spinning tires. I am confident in our ability to work collaboratively towards accomplishing your goals. Being a US Army veteran, I bring a unique perspective to the field of mental health. Having been DBT and EMDR trained, I utilize specialized evidence-based techniques tailored to your specific goals. My genuinely client-centered style of therapy provides a unique experience, which is why I frequently get told "I've never met a therapist like you before!" If you've read this far, you are motivated to find the "right" therapist to talk to. Very seldom can we control things in life that negatively impact us, but taking control of what we can is one of the first steps to growth and self-discovery. Together, let's embark on a journey towards self-fulfillment, healing, and resilience!

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

Typically, our first session will focus on introductions and gaining an understanding of how I can best be of service to you. Therapy requires trust, and trust takes time to build, so our first session will also include answering any questions you may have regarding the therapeutic process.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

Specializing in addiction and trauma, I am well equipped to treat most presenting situations. I have years of experience working with both adolescents and veterans, which are two populations in need of more clinicians. I have had excellent results working with individuals who are not familiar with the world of mental health, and those who have been reluctant to seek counseling due to stigma and/or stereotypes of what they think a therapist will be like.

My treatment methods

Christian Counseling

Having spent several years as a program therapist of a Christian rehab, I have a clinical foundation in Christian counseling. My office is located in the basement of a church, and when requested I can incorporate prayer, scripture, and other Christ-centered interventions to allow the Great Physician to do what He does!

Person-centered (Rogerian)

Have you been to a therapist in the past who presented as cold, calloused, and "snobby"? If so, I am extremely sorry you had that experience and encourage you to not give up on therapy and mental health because of it. A colleague once told me, "All therapy is person centered at it's core". Wrong! When entering my office, please know that I am not above you nor am I the expert of your life. I may not have all the answers, but I will stand in the trenches with you while we attempt to navigate through the chaos together.
