In your first therapy session, you can expect a warm welcoming environment where the primary focus is on getting to know you and understanding your needs. During our first session, we'll start by discussing your reasons for seeking therapy and what you hope to achieve. You'll have the chance to share your story and any concerns you may have, while I listen with empathy and without judgment. Together, we'll collaborate on setting goals and creating a personalized treatment plan tailored to your unique needs and preferences. The first session is a stepping stone toward positive change, and as your therapist I am there to support you on your journey to improved mental health and well-being.

I utilize CBT to teach clients practical skills and techniques to manage depressive symptoms, such as problem-solving skills, behavioral activation (engaging in pleasurable or meaningful activities), and relaxation techniques. Homework assignments may be given to practice these skills between therapy sessions.
Motivational interviewing (MI) is a counseling approach that helps individuals explore and resolve ambivalence about behavior change. I utilize MI to employ specific techniques to evoke and strengthen a client's motivation for change.
