As a therapist, I specialize in treating mind-body-soul. That means I take a holistic approach. I try to bring in Christian values into my practice while I help clients with anxiety and trauma and learning to love self. I am trained in functional nutrition, EMDR, IFS, Christian counseling, and spiritual direction. These all get blended into therapy. When working with various mental health concerns, I can educate clients on how to help their body heal as the mind is also healing and how to help them both work together at optimal ability. My job is to work myself out of a job by empowering clients to know how to be self led in their own healing journey.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

The first session is the assessment where I get to know clients. I do try to leave some room for therapy in this session. Once the assessment is completed, a treatment plan is discussed and generated. Before clients leave the first session, I try to give teach at least one tool they can utilize between the sessions. The second session is spent on coping skills to get clients and myself on the same page with coping and explain the reason these skills work from a functional perspective. I also explain IFS to clients and then lead clients into a breath awareness activity to begin the process of getting to know the internal world of emotional parts within. Even if clients have never been able to sit still and relax, lots of great insights come from even this first experience of the breath activity. The direction of therapy then can change depending on what surfaces and seems to be most pressing at the moment. In each session I try to empower and explain what is happening all along the way.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My greatest quality is compassion followed by being creative in being able to see things that are outside of the box. I have the gift given by God to make connections and explain those connections when it may be harder for others to spot them right away. This is because I am always looking at the entirety of a person's story and not the story being presented in the moment. I also try to elicit mercy to clients. I myself know how much I am in need of mercy so I try to bestow that on clients and help them to be merciful to self.

My treatment methods

Internal Family Systems (IFS)

I received IFS training from the IFS Institute in 2018. I have gone through Level one and two training. I incorporate IFS with EMDR. I help clients learn how to read their bodies and emotional parts, to see how these parts are actually trying to help them achieve happiness, and help the parts to receive healing to work at optimal capacity. The goal is to self leadership of all parts within and to have unconditional positive regard toward all emotional parts. Pain in memories are healed through EMDR and IFS blended together.

EMDR

I received training in EMDR while living in OH in 2017. After getting the basic training, I went on to get advanced training through various programs. When painful memories need to be processed, EMDR is used to help bring healing to the memories.
