Are you feeling drained and challenged by one or more relationships in your life? I will help you recognize and break unhealthy or unsupportive relationship patterns, identify your needs, feel more empowered to navigate the natural ups and downs that exist within relationships and learn how to set healthy boundaries. I have been a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) for nearly 15 years. I am passionate about helping individuals learn and develop the skills necessary to support a life that is healthy and fulfilling. Participation in therapy can help one gain insight, find clarity, replace self-defeating patterns with more supportive ones, build on strengths, learn new skills, and improve relationships. Relationships are a central part of our lives and can be challenging to navigate. Let me help you learn the skills to create more fulfilling connections.
During a first session I focus on getting to know my new client. While there are some more logistical things that are important to review and discuss during a fist session, I dedicate the majority of the time to gaining a greater understanding of what has brought someone to therapy and learning about a client's life.
I work to create a supportive and non-judgmental space which will help foster open and honest communication. In this type of setting, I am able to effectively help my clients make changes or learn new skills that help them reach the goals we establish for treatment.
I work with individual women who are functioning safely day to day, but may be experiencing difficulty in relationships and/or navigating life transitions that are causing some distress. My client's bring a desire to improve their quality of life and are open to making changes or learning new skills that will help them reach this goal.
I spend time with an individual working to identify whether patterns of thought and/or behavior may be getting in the way of the life you want to live.
I focus time in treatment on what character strengths and behaviors allow an individual to build a life of meaning and purpose.
I have found in my many years doing this work that we are often hardest and most unforgiving with ourselves. This typically isn't helpful. I work to incorporate building and developing skills to cultivate self compassion, which can be a more helpful approach to addressing challenges and thriving in life.
