I am a licensed psychologist with a doctoral degree specializing in counseling psychology and 15 years of professional experience. My education and own lived experiences have shaped my ability to understand and relate to others, fostering greater empathy in my work. While I bring extensive professional training to the therapy process, I also believe that every person I work with teaches me something valuable. Supporting others is both a privilege and a responsibility I deeply value, and I am committed to creating a meaningful, collaborative therapeutic experience for each individual I have the honor to work with.
In our first session, I will invite you to share what brought you to therapy and why you’ve decided to reach out now. As we talk, I’ll ask questions to better understand your background, experiences, and current concerns. While I encourage you to share openly, I also engage actively in sessions, offering my thoughts, ideas, and impressions to support the conversation. I view therapy as a collaborative process and welcome your questions and input. I’ll regularly check in with you to ensure we’re aligned and that our discussions focus on what feels most important to you. I value feedback and will work to adjust our approach if something doesn’t feel quite right, so we can create a space that meets your needs effectively.
Clients often tell me that it’s clear how much I care and that I bring warmth, genuine engagement, and a thoughtful balance of support and directness when needed. They frequently share that they feel comfortable opening up about themselves, even on challenging or sensitive topics, without feeling judged or ashamed.
Much of my career has been dedicated to working in university counseling centers, where I have supported many college students through a wide range of challenges. Additionally, I have extensive experience working with adults beyond college age, including those who have experienced trauma. My goal is to provide compassionate and effective care tailored to each individual's unique needs and circumstances.
Existential therapy is a type of counseling that helps people explore the big questions in life, like "Who am I?", "What is my purpose?", and "How do I find meaning?" It focuses on helping clients face challenges like anxiety, loneliness, or feeling stuck by encouraging them to take ownership of their choices and live in a way that feels true to themselves. Instead of staying on the surface looking only at symptoms, existential therapy is about understanding your values, finding meaning in your experiences, and creating a fulfilling life despite the uncertainties and struggles we all face. It’s like having a conversation about what really matters to you and how to live authentically.
