Hey! My name is Drica Dennis and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor here in Georgia. I am dedicated to helping individuals find their authentic selves and embrace a path of healing and personal growth. My clients would describe me as funny, sarcastic, empathetic and honest. I utilize these characteristics across all areas of my life which allows me to show up as my most authentic self. As a LPC I work with children as young as 6 years old with the oldest client well into their 60s. While I have a range of experience from anxiety and depression to women's and relationship issues, I'm so excited to learn and work with clients experiencing so much more. I'm here to help support you on your unique journey so ready when you are!

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

When clients join me for an intake session that can expect me to preview the plan for the day to ease some potential nerves about attending therapy. The best thing about this is I'll spend the first 10 minutes or so talking about informed consents, how I envision healthy therapeutic interactions and my experience so far. Then of course clients get to ask me questions to create a shared sense of knowing and thus creating rapport, the foundation of any good therapeutic relationship. The rest of the session will focus on learning more about the clients presenting concerns, history, patterns and short and long term goals.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I believe that my greatest strengths as a provider are my abilities to empathetically listen to understand, hold myself and my clients accountable for the work we're putting in and being honest when sharing clinical insight as I'm working with a client. It is imperative that I listen to my clients with curiosity and a desire to understand their journey so that I can best support the individual, one of a kind life that they are living. This then informs me of what they can be held accountable for and anticipate when they need more time versus when I can lean in and push them more towards their short and long term goals. Once we're able to establish this within the therapeutic relationship, we're able to be honest about how the process is going and what changes need to be made.

My treatment methods

Gestalt

I love utilizing Gestalt therapy with clients as it helps them to identify patterns in behavior with the focus on the whole being greater than it's parts. The way that I use this in practice is to identify both the positive and negative patterns that a client has developed in their lifetime and to find ways to shift those behaviors as a unit because our success is about the totality of the experiences on our journey.

Humanistic

I love utilizing humanistic therapy as it focuses on learning to take responsibility and accountability for one's actions while also letting go of the responsibilities and expectations set by others. I utilize this to help clients reclaim control over their lives and to look internally to understand themselves, their values and the life that they will be most satisfied with.
