*** Well hello there! I'm Tammy, and it's so good to meet you! I’m a dedicated, fully-licensed and board certified professional counselor who’s passionate about supporting individuals on their journey to wellness. I use "talk therapies" to provide therapeutic support, guidance, clinical insight / education, and advocacy for those I serve. I’m in my 20th year of clinical practice in the mental health field and each day is as exciting as my very first! I received my undergraduate degree in Psychology from the University of Georgia (2003) and a masters degree in Rehabilitation Psychology from the University of Wisconsin (2004). I've earned an Educational Specialist degree in Community Care and Counseling from Liberty University (2024) and am in pursuit of a doctoral degree in Counseling through LU and a Doctorate in Behavioral Health from Arizona States University. To say the least, my thirst for knowledge is insatiable, but my advancement help me better serve those in need of support. This is truly my passion and as long as I am breathing, I will continue to serve. So...a little about me once I remove the "therapist" hat: I was born and raised in Athens, GA. I’m a mother of three (18f, 16m – special needs/autism, 9f) and four fur-babies (cats): Hermione, Belatrix, Draco, and Percy. Sense a Harry Potter theme here? I’m huge fan of Magic the Gathering, ALL things Disney, Marvel/MCU, Supernatural, The Boys, and penguins, because I believe them to be the cutest, silliest of all creatures! I LOVE watching movies, spending time with family and friends, collecting trading cards, video gaming, board gaming, weight training, martial arts, graphic design, walking around aimlessly in bookstores, attending conventions, and spreading positive light as best I can.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

The initial visit involves a medical history review, an assessment of your specific symptoms and concerns, and possible diagnostic measures to evaluate overall health, identify issues, and develop and discuss treatment options. This may sound scary, but I assure you, others find this initial meeting to be very therapeutic and tend to feel a lot more relaxed and confident by the time we conclude the session. My goal is to minimize some of that anxious distress that we tend to have in the very beginning. Sessions generally last between 50-60 minutes.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

Helping others feel comfortable and confident in being themselves, loving who they truly are. I believe you are the expert of your story, and you have many strengths that will help you overcome life's challenges. One of the most inspiring messages I received in the beginning of my career was this: Good therapy doesn’t look like therapy at all, but like a very good conversation. Some may disagree with this, but I’ve found that building a therapeutic alliance is essential in helping guide others toward the outcomes they so desire. So let’s have that very good conversation. You’re on a path toward healing, and I’d very much enjoy accompanying you on what may seem like a long, scary, and lonely road. Your mental health journey is unique, and I'm here to provide the compassionate expertise you deserve. Let's work together towards your goals for a healthier mind and a brighter future.
