Life throws us “curve balls” which cause stress, anxiety, fear, and trauma. Suffering can be endless, but you’ve come to the right place for healing. As part of my own mental health journey, I graduated in 2013 from Wright State University with a Master's Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Now as a licensed professional clinical counselor (LPCC), I have worked in a variety of settings for 11 years, including community behavioral centers. Prior to becoming a professional counselor, I worked at a VA hospital as a chaplain helping many veterans work through their unique mental health issues, including PTSD and addiction. I have also worked extensively in the past with women having experienced sexual trauma.
What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?
Whatever the issues may be, the decision to seek counseling—though difficult—is a necessary step in the right direction toward formulating viable and practical solutions to personal wellness. I offer a warm, welcoming, and secure environment. I operate on the belief and knowledge that, as real as any physical illness, mental illness can be effectively treated to help you move forward toward the life you’ve always dreamt of. We’ll work together on this journey.
What treatment methods and tools do you utilize?
I work with young adults, adults, and veterans, regardless of their sexual orientation. They may suffer from depression, anxiety, PTSD, trauma, grief, loss, bereavement, chronic pain and serious illness, and issues of spirituality. I proudly work with people seeking to regain control of their lives through the restorative and healing process of therapy. I utilize what therapy techniques work best, including positive psychology, solution-focused therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, and motivational interviewing.
Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.
I have two areas of counseling that I specialize in at this time. I have focused on clients who are suffering through grief. I also have worked with clients for many years who have experienced trauma, and come down with PTSD.
