Hello! I’m Joy, and I’m here to help you identify your unique strengths and use them as tools to navigate whatever has brought you to therapy. I believe in creating a judgment-free zone, where I will always meet you exactly where you are—never where I think you should be. In our work together, you are always in the driver's seat of your own therapy. My role is simply to be the map, helping guide you along your journey as you find your way forward.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session together, we'll begin with brief introductions, and then dive into the specific challenges you're facing and the goals you'd like to achieve. Your perspective is key, and I want to ensure we focus on what's most important to you. This will allow me to create a personalized plan to guide our work together in future sessions, ensuring that we’re always moving toward the outcomes that matter most to you.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

With 14 years of experience working with a diverse range of clients across various settings, I approach therapy with a person-centered focus. I recognize that each client brings their own unique strengths and goals to the table. My role is to help you identify and build on those strengths as we work together to address the challenges that brought you to therapy. By focusing on your existing resources, we can empower you to find solutions that feel both achievable and meaningful.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

I’m passionate about working with a diverse range of clients. With experience in healthcare settings, therapeutic environments, and college campuses, I’ve had the privilege of working with people from many walks of life. I understand that many clients come to therapy eager to improve but unsure of where to start or how to tap into the strengths they already possess. It can be challenging to recognize the positives, especially when negative self-talk is in the way. I’m here to help you reframe those thoughts and see yourself more clearly, with compassion and strength. Together, we’ll work to identify and build on your existing resources, empowering you to move forward with confidence.

My treatment methods

Strength-Based

Welcome! I’m Joy (she/her/hers), and I believe that everyone is the driver of their own path. In our work together, I take a client-centered, strengths-based approach to therapy, where you are in the driver’s seat. I see therapy as a roadmap, where your unique strengths guide the way. While it’s easy to focus on problems, I work with clients to identify and build on their strengths, helping them create solutions that not only empower them but also provide the autonomy to guide their own treatment. In our sessions, I focus on the exceptions to the problem—those moments where things were different or better. By highlighting these moments, I help clients adjust their approach the next time they face challenges. My expertise lies in supporting individuals navigating medical trauma and adjusting to new or chronic medical diagnoses. I often work with clients who also experience anxiety or depression, which can sometimes intertwine with medical concerns. I have had the privilege of working with individuals across the lifespan, from new mothers in labor and delivery to patients in end-of-life care. I am passionate about meeting clients wherever they are in life, at any age or stage, and supporting them in creating the path forward that’s right for them.
