Hi! I'm Meryl. Do you feel as though no one quite understands or listens to you? Do you want to learn ways to communicate your needs and cope with the challenges in your life? I devote my practice to helping adults such as yourself overcome mental health issues and personal conflicts so you can thrive in life and get back to what matters most. Whether you have been impacted by trauma, grief, relationships, or health issues, I am here to help you achieve your goals. I provide a therapeutic approach that is patient and engaging. I bring compassion to our sessions while helping you find solutions to the challenges in your life. I am direct and sincere as I allow you to gain what you need from therapy including insight, coping skills, and resolutions. I believe that therapy is work and I am willing to put the work in with you. I do much more than listen and talk. I provide lasting coping skills and insight that you will be able to use not just with your struggles now, but with future issues that may come about in your life. Therapy is work that pays off even years down the way! I love seeing people improve their lives and ultimately feel more comfortable with themselves and the world. If you are looking specifically for trauma-focused treatment, I am a Certified Therapist in Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing and would love to explore this as an option for you. I look forward to hearing from you!
During our first session, I will get to know you and your struggles, and together we can determine how you can best thrive in therapy. Through our work together you will gain skills to take with you through life while also uncovering and addressing how your struggles came to be in the first place. By the time you complete therapy, you will be a stronger version of yourself and able to recommit to the things you care about most in your life.
My biggest strength as a clinician is my ability to nurture a safe and positive therapeutic relationship while using a direct and person-centered approach to give my clients exceptional care. I help my clients get to the root of issues using a trauma-informed approach and provide evidence-based skills to aid in achieving a well-rounded recovery.
As an EMDR Certified clinician I will gather a full trauma history and work with you to develop a thorough plan for eliminating the stronghold that trauma has on your life. I continue to see the profound impact the 8 phase protocol EMDR has on a person's well being in facing everything from childhood trauma to recent events.
As a Cognitive Behavioral Therapist I will help you identify patterns of behavior and thinking that cause damage to yourself and your relationships and we work together to find the best suited coping skills to change those behaviors work towards the best version of yourself.
DBT is a treatment modality most commonly used with clients struggling with traits of Borderline Personality Disorder, however, I find these skills to be helpful for many people struggling with being heard and getting their needs met, as well as how to calm themselves and build relationships.
As a grief counselor I've walked through loss with many people and we take this process carefully and gently, working through the stages of grief and how each one impacts you and appropriate ways to cope.
