I’m Naina Rana, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and the founder of Peakworks Counseling Center. I specialize in helping individuals and couples navigate life transitions, emotional challenges, relationship dynamics, and ADHD. Drawing from a holistic West meets East approach, I create a compassionate, safe, and nonjudgmental space where clients can explore their struggles, embrace their strengths, and achieve meaningful growth. My goal is to empower you to find balance, clarity, and resilience as you move forward on your journey.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In your first session at Peakworks Counseling Center, you can expect a warm and welcoming space where we begin building a strong foundation for your therapeutic journey. I’ll start by introducing myself and explaining how therapy works, including the structure of our sessions and the importance of confidentiality. This is an opportunity for you to share what brought you to therapy, whether it’s a specific challenge, a desire for personal growth, or simply the need for support. We’ll spend time exploring your story and the experiences that have shaped you, but always at a pace that feels comfortable for you. You’re welcome to share as much or as little as you like—it’s important that you feel safe and in control of the process. Together, we’ll start identifying what you hope to achieve in therapy, whether it’s immediate relief, long-term goals, or simply understanding yourself better. As we talk, I’ll share some of the approaches and tools I use to help clients, tailoring these to align with your values and needs. This is a collaborative process, and I encourage you to ask questions or voice any preferences or concerns. By the end of the session, we’ll outline a plan for moving forward, including some small, actionable steps you can take between sessions. The first session is all about connection and understanding—creating a safe, compassionate space where you can begin to feel supported and empowered. My goal is for you to leave feeling heard, hopeful, and ready to take the next steps toward growth and healing.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

As a provider, my greatest strengths lie in my ability to create a safe, compassionate, and nonjudgmental space where clients feel truly seen and heard. I bring a culturally sensitive perspective to my work, shaped by my own experiences as a Nepalese-American navigating traditional and modern values. My West meets East approach allows me to integrate evidence-based practices with holistic and mindful techniques, offering clients a balanced path to healing and growth. I excel at forming genuine connections, which fosters trust and a strong therapeutic relationship. My deep empathy and active listening skills enable me to understand the unique challenges my clients face, while my analytical mindset helps identify patterns and uncover insights that lead to meaningful change. I am adaptable, meeting each client where they are, and tailoring interventions to suit their individual needs, strengths, and goals. With a focus on empowerment, I encourage clients to embrace their resilience and strengths, helping them build confidence and clarity. My dedication to inclusivity and accessibility ensures that every client, regardless of their background or circumstances, feels valued and supported in their journey.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I have extensive experience with cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), an evidence-based treatment approach that focuses on identifying and changing unhelpful thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. My training in CBT has allowed me to effectively support clients dealing with issues like anxiety, depression, stress, and relationship challenges. In my practice, I use CBT to help clients recognize patterns of negative thinking or behaviors that may be contributing to their distress. Together, we work to reframe these thoughts, challenge self-defeating beliefs, and develop healthier coping strategies. For example, I guide clients through techniques like thought tracking, behavioral activation, and mindfulness exercises to promote self-awareness and lasting change. CBT is a collaborative and goal-oriented process, and I tailor it to meet each client's unique needs, ensuring that the tools and techniques align with their strengths, values, and goals. Whether it's helping someone reduce anxiety, improve communication in relationships, or enhance emotional regulation, CBT offers practical solutions that empower clients to create meaningful change in their lives.

Gottman method

In my practice, I use the Gottman Method to help couples understand the dynamics of their relationship, identify negative patterns, and work together to build a stronger emotional bond. By teaching couples how to communicate more effectively, manage conflict constructively, and foster appreciation and respect, I guide them toward creating lasting, meaningful connections. The Gottman Method's use of structured interventions and measurable goals also allows for clear progress in therapy, which is empowering for clients. I integrate the principles of this method with my broader therapeutic approach, ensuring that each couple receives personalized, culturally sensitive support that aligns with their unique needs and values.
