What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In your first session with me, you can expect a warm, welcoming space where you’re encouraged to share what brings you to therapy and what you hope to achieve. We’ll take time to explore your background, current challenges, and any specific goals you have in mind. This session is also an opportunity for you to ask questions and get comfortable with the therapy process. My aim is to help you feel heard and understood, while setting the foundation for a collaborative relationship. Together, we’ll begin to identify areas to focus on, and I’ll share how I approach treatment to support you in reaching your goals. This initial meeting is all about making sure you feel comfortable, respected, and empowered as we start this journey.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

As a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Fresvinda Chue specializes in trauma, spirituality, grief and loss, and men’s issues. With expertise in trauma-informed care and Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy, Fresvinda provides a safe, non-judgmental environment where clients can process their experiences and explore inner "parts" that may hold painful memories or protective roles. This approach fosters resilience, healing, and self-compassion, helping clients understand and harmonize these parts for greater inner peace. Recognizing the significant role of spirituality in many clients' lives, Fresvinda integrates clients' beliefs as part of the therapeutic process, helping them find strength, purpose, and grounding. Her approach respects each individual’s spiritual perspective, creating a foundation for empowerment and personal growth. By fostering self-compassion and acceptance, she helps clients explore and process their feelings, finding a way forward that aligns with their values and needs. As an LMFT, Fresvinda approaches therapy with a systems perspective, understanding how family, relationships, and social dynamics influence mental health. This strengths-based, relational approach is particularly valuable in addressing trauma and grief, allowing her to support clients holistically and address the broader social and relational factors affecting their well-being. With expertise in therapeutic approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Client-Centered Therapy, Mindfulness techniques, and Internal Family Systems, Fresvinda tailors interventions to each client’s needs, empowering them to build resilience, develop coping skills, and create a more fulfilling life. Terapia En Español Family Counseling offers a compassionate, culturally aware approach that empowers adults on their path to healing and personal transformation.

My treatment methods

Internal Family Systems (IFS)

In my experience with Internal Family Systems (IFS), I have found it to be a transformative approach for clients working through complex emotions, trauma, and self-compassion challenges. IFS allows clients to explore their internal world by identifying different “parts” of themselves – such as protectors, critics, and wounded parts – and understand how these parts impact their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. In practice, I begin by helping clients get to know these parts with curiosity and openness, especially those that may carry painful experiences or difficult emotions. By facilitating a respectful internal dialogue, I guide clients in understanding each part’s role and how it’s trying to help, even if its methods are sometimes counterproductive. We work together to foster greater harmony between parts, while strengthening their access to the compassionate, centered “Self” that can lead with clarity and confidence. IFS enables clients to release emotional burdens, resolve internal conflicts, and build a stronger, more compassionate relationship with themselves. This approach has been especially effective for clients dealing with anxiety, trauma, and issues with self-worth, providing them with lasting tools for personal growth and self-acceptance.
